Are ingrown toenail surgery painful

Ingrown toenail surgery is a minor operation that involves removing a painful and bothering toenail. The procedure can help to stop the pain as well as to prevent a worsening of the condition.

However, while it is a minor operation and not a particularly invasive one, most people are still worried about how painful it will be.

The good news is that the pain associated with an ingrown toenail surgery is relatively minimal and easily managed. Generally, the amount of pain experienced depends on a person's individual pain threshold and how much local anesthesia is used during the procedure. It could range from a mild discomfort to a moderate amount of stinging and soreness.

However, these sensations can be reduced or even eliminated entirely with the help of local anesthesia.  Generally speaking, the procedure is quite straightforward and the discomfort can usually be managed quite effectively with just local anesthesia. At The rehab Hub many patients report to us they did not feel any pain at all.

Furthermore, the pain associated with the procedure should dissipate within a few days after the surgery.  Of course, even with local anesthesia, it is natural for the patient to experience a little bit of discomfort and pain. So it is important for them to take the necessary precautions to reduce potential risk and the amount of discomfort caused by the surgery.

Taking painkillers before and after the procedure can also limit the extent of pain experienced.  In summary, unlike many other medical procedures, ingrown toenail surgery is generally not too painful. There will be a certain amount of discomfort or pain, but with the help of local anesthesia and painkillers, it should be minimal and manageable.
